Project Closing

Closing Project

Project closing, where the project is finished. One of the most ignored parts of the project management process.

It includes administrative activities ( collecting and finalizing all the paperwork) needed to complete the project, and technical work to confirm that the final output of the project is acceptable.

Sometimes projects never seem to officially finish.

Steps required to complete the Close phase.

Step 1. Confirm all the project requirement have been met.

Step 2. Obtain final acceptance of the project from the operations, maintenance, and customer, etc..

Step 3. If any issues/blockers prevent final acceptance by operations, maintenance, and customer, negotiate a settlement or other resolution.

Step 4. Make the final payment and complete cost records.

Step 5. Final lessons learned and share with the organization.

Step 6. Create & distribute a final report of phase performance.

Step 7. Handoff the completed project deliverables to the appropriate stakeholders ( the customer, operations and maintenance, etc..

Step 8. Confirm all contracts have been officially closed, update and records.

Step 9. Celebrate!
